Idol's Maroulis Forgot the Lyrics!
Constatine Maroulis from American Idol (Season 4) appeared on FOX's Don’t Forget the Lyrics tonight for the charity Broadway Cares. First off, I don’t really care for many of the Idols but he totally tops the list… him and Chris Daughtry both appear make me ill. But watching Maroulis on tonight’s episode was almost humorous. He didn’t know any of the songs, some of which are classic songs that 90% of the population should know or at least be able to keep in tune with. Wayne Brady, the host, had to help him out on each and every song.
The first song was in the category of Rock, his choices were between Meatloaf’s Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad or Run To You by Bryan Adams. He goofed on the ending and Wayne practically told him what the correct lyrics should be.
The second song he chose was The Temptations’ Get Ready from the Motown category and he was so off beat even I was confused. Wayne had to give him a subliminal message of the correct answer.
Then on the third song, he chose Don’t Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult. He chose the band with such confirmation but soon let America down with that horrific voice and lack of ability to carry a decent note. Now, don’t get me wrong, I can barely hold a note myself but you don’t see me on national television pretending I can.
As I was ranting this to blog, he was singing Elton John’s Your Song. He just barely got the words right but was off key for a majority of the song. Of all the songs tonight, Elton’s was by far the best from Maroulis but that isn’t really saying all that much. Wayne Brady even comments about they have been "horsing around" up til now and practically telling Maroulis to get with the friggin' program.
And now for his final song, he chose (I just) Died In Your Arms Tonight by Cutting Crew. The lyrics were:
It must've been something you said
I just died in your arms tonight
Oh I, I just died in your arms tonight
It must've been some kind
_____ _____ _____ _____ _____ _____.
to which he chose “of kiss I couldn’t walk away.” Turns out the correct words are “...should’ve walked away.” So out goes Maroulis with $25,000 guaranteed cash for his charity. YAY for the charity… BOO for Maroulis. For someone who walks and talks like a rockstar, he sure can’t back it up… which honestly comes as no surprise to me.

The Smurfs turn 50! Which reminds me that I need to buy the box set for Lil Man. He loves classic cartoons, especially Tom & Jerry and The Flinstones.
