...and I have to be up at 4AM. YAY! Mine as well just stay up, catch up on some Sugar and catch you folks up on my life as of late.
My mom is in the hospital. She went in via ambulance on Thursday. She has infection in her bloodstream, which they are treating with IV's and antibiotics. She is also a little confused and hazy about things. According to the nurses, this could be because the infection as well as the pain meds. However, I have yet to have a complete consult with an actual doctor. Which is why I have to be up at 4AM today.
You see, originally I was told Thursday night that in order to catch a doctor in his rounds, I should be in at 7AM. So what did I do? I got there at 7AM only to wait til 12 noon for a doctor to breeze into the room, tell me he hasn't received the results from the EEG and would let the nurse know the results when he got them and quickly hustled out the room before I could even digest the information he had just spit out to me. Later, the nurse did tell me that the EEG showed no signs of seizure but that her background activity was slow but it could be the meds. Could be the meds... a statement I am quite tired of hearing by now.
Yesterday, I got up there at 7:30AM and never saw a doctor. I stayed until 4PM and just couldn't sit in that room anymore. I have been up there every single day for 8+ hours at a time. So today, I got a little frustrated with the nurse. She simply says "If you want to see the doctor, you should be here at 5:30 in the morning. That is when he starts his rounds. Other than that, I can't really answer your concerns." I understand that she can't tell me much but she could a least give me a little something to go on since I obviously never going to see a doctor again. And WTH is this 5:30 bullshit - I was told 7AM! But I am going to make it happen dammit. I want answers and if I have to be there the crack of dawn to do so, then so be it.
My mom seems to be in better shape each day but not anything extremely significant. Every day, she holds a conversation a little longer. But she doesn't remember Wednesday or Thursday at all and barely remembers her visitors besides me and my dad. She is eating more though. The first two days, she didn't eat a single thing. Finally, she started working on the chicken noodle soup and jello. And has ate most everything in her meal. Today, I ordered her a cup of vanilla ice cream as a treat. When it came, I said, "Wow mom, vanilla ice cream, sounds yum huh?" To which she replied, "Mm hmm!", while licking her lips. lol.
Well, that has been my life over the past few days. Hopefully, after this crack of dawn trip to the hospital, I will have little more information/status update. Will keep you all posted as I can. Hope you all are doing well and keeping warm! Peace, yo.
